UNICEF works tirelessly in over 190 countries and territories to save children's lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. Their commitment to children's well-being remains steadfast, regardless of global challenges.

As the Creative Director on the UNICEF Won't Stop Live Virtual Event and several other in-person fundraisers, I played a crucial role in maintaining visual consistency across the event branding. Despite the challenges posed by the quickly evolving content due to the nature of the event, I worked closely with my team to meet a tight, hard deadline, ensuring that the event was executed flawlessly.

Our collaborative efforts during the one-night virtual event for UNICEF yielded remarkable outcomes – over $650,000 was raised for children impacted by COVID-19 around the world. Additionally, hundreds of thousands more was raised over the years through various other UNICEF USA fundraising events where I contributed directly though designing or art directing invitations and event collateral.

Additionally, my team and I were honored to win a GDUSA award for our work on the UNICEF Won’t Stop event at their annual Health + Wellness Awards.

Approach

With pandemic-induced restrictions limiting in-person interactions, the challenge for the UNICEF Won’t Stop event was to create an impactful virtual experience that could continue life-saving initiatives. I led the development of various digital initiatives and engaging social assets. These efforts were instrumental in drawing substantial viewership and triggering a surge in donations for the event. Throughout the project, my team collaborated closely with video producers and various UNICEF internal departments to orchestrate an extraordinary event, generating anticipation to inspire generous donations from viewers around the world.

Impact Through Digital Media

Leading up to the virtual event, we created a pitch deck to further allow UNICEF to gain exposure and support from key advocates of their mission. The deck included specific details, such as performers and timing of each segment, all within a beautifully designed, digital presentation.

Once complete, we focused on creating social assets for both UNICEF and event performers to share on their various platforms, and built a website to share event information with the public and direct users to a donation platform.

Invitations That Inspire Action

To encourage attendance, we created a series of HTML emails, ranging from save-the-dates to invitations to appreciative follow-up emails. Animated header graphics, custom iconography, and bold calls to action created a dynamic and informative digital experience.

Miscellaneous Event Inviations

Each UNICEF USA event required a unique look and feel that aligns with the organization's brand. We crafted a rugged, elegant invite for Atlanta's Ted Turner event and designed elegant materials fitting for the late Barbara Bush in Houston.

Our team also boosted the UNICEF Masquerade Ball's visibility with moody, celestial-inspired social media memes and a prominent red-carpet backdrop. We also created HTML versions of our print invites and micro-sites for easy digital access to event information and RSVPs.
