Creative Direction, Poster Design
When Ukraine was invaded and faced with an unnecessary war, my team at Rule29was compelled to take action. We initiated a campaign to support those affected, including the creation of a limited edition poster.
All proceeds from the poster sales were directed to global organizations providing aid to Ukraine. Additionally, we developed a downloadable resource kit for individuals to share within their networks to raise awareness about the situation.
With generous donations from Neenah Paper and O’Neil Printing, we were able to donate almost $1,500 to Ukrainians in need through UNICEF, World Central Kitchen, and International Rescue Committee.
In addition to being able to play a small part in something so much greater than myself, I was honored to have the poster design be well-received by the design community. HOW Design featured the art on their April 2022 cover.
Approach
Our approach was centered around creating a visually impactful and emotionally resonant design that would convey a message of hope and solidarity. As the designer on the poster, I chose to feature the sunflower, the national flower of Ukraine, as the central motif. This symbol of resilience and strength served as a powerful visual metaphor for the spirit of the Ukrainian people in the face of adversity.
The "Where Love Grows" poster design, printed on Neenah CLASSIC® Techweave, Solar White, 100 lb. Cover measured 18” x 24”. The tactile quality of the paper enhanced the visual appeal of the design, inviting viewers to engage with the message on a deeper level. The campaign was successful in raising funds for Ukraine relief efforts, with the poster serving as a symbol of solidarity and support for those in need.
